In today's video, we are taking a step back from seriousness and bringing back the laughter! Simas is going to tell you guys about things he didn't know before he dated a black woman. Yes, we are married now and we happen to be an interracial couple who are black and white. Here are some things Simas learned after dating black girls and marrying a black woman (no dating advice!).

In honor of Black History Month, we thought it would be appropriate to tackle the subject or race and interracial dating in a fun way. We did get into an interracial marriage after all. This is primarily about fun things we always discuss in our relationship and some of Avri's experiences dating as a black girl in New York and dating a white man.

Number one is black women and their hair. It's such a complicated topic. Black women have to go the extra mile to take care of their hair, especially those with 4c hair and their protective styles. It takes longer to wash, grow, maintain as well as comb, twist and braid. Curly hair is not easy to deal with  Afro-textured hair is also more expensive to maintain. It has to be moisturized, conditioned, combed and taken care of on a regular basis. Then there are edges, which need to be laid down with a toothbrush and edge gel. Some women just opt to cut their hair short while others wear wigs, braid their hair, wear it in dreads or perm their hair. Whatever works, it's not an easy process. Black women also look like different people depending on their hairstyle. The Afro makes Avri look one way, while wearing dreads makes her look different. Regardless, she's a beautiful black girl!

Taking care of black skin is also different. You need more lotions and moisturizers to make sure it doesn't get ashy. Elbows, knees, hands, toes, face - all of them need to consistently be taken care of, moisturized, lotioned, shea butter, cocoa butter, regular lotions, baby oil, coconut oil.

Black women and attitude are often intertwined in many stereotypes. Some black women have attitude problems. It's just a matter of circumstances and everyone can catch attitude depending on what's happening.
