RICE
INGREDIENTS:
2 CUPS BASMATI RICE
3.5 CUPS WATER
SALT
1/2 OF ONION (SLICED)
A DASH ASAFOETIDA
1 TEASPOON CUMIN SEEDS
HOW TO:
1. SOAK RICE FOR 20 MINUTES IN WATER
2. DRAIN RICE & DISCARD WATER
3. IN A POT ON MEDIUM HEAT, ADD 1 TABLESPOON OF GHEE, ADD CUMIN SEEDS, ASAFOETIDA AND LET IT SIZZLE IN THE GHEE FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS.
4. ADD SLICED ONIONS TO TARKA, BROWN ONIONS WELL
5. ADD WATER AND SALT TO TARKA
6. COVER & LET IT COME TO A BOIL
7. AFTER WATER COMES TO A BOIL, ADD RICE
8. AFTER RICE COMES TO BOIL AGAIN, REDUCE HEAT TO LOW & COVER
9. COOK FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN TURN OFF HEAT.
10. DO NOT UNCOVER & LET RICE SIT UNDISTURBED FOR ANOTHER 10 MINUTES
