Already cash-strapped South Africans will yet again have to dig deeper into their pockets as the fuel prices increase effectively from tomorrow. The adjusted fuel prices will see petrol going up by 91 cents, Diesel by 55.58 cents per litre and Illuminating Paraffin will increase by 50 cents per litre. The Department of Minerals and Energy said the adjustment is based on current local and international factors including the Rand/US Dollar exchange rate and International petroleum product prices. These increases come as many South Africans and businesses are grappling with difficult economic conditions, high food prices and high utility tariffs. To make sense of the fuel increase and its impact on the cost of living, we are joined by Dr. Azar Jammine, Director and Chief Economist at Econometrix.
