TMA's "Life is about the Journey" is a video that shows the true beauty of the Maldives! Filmed from above and under the surface it showcases the most stunning view of paradise.
TMA (Trans Maldivian Airways) is the oldest and, in many ways, the most experienced Air transfer operator in the Maldives. It pioneered the use of aircraft to transport tourists to island based resorts. In doing so, it has made a significant contribution to the development of tourism to the Maldives, which in turn has resulted in major benefits to the national economy.
Founded in 1989, the company operated a strictly helicopter fleet of aircraft until the introduction of the first seaplanes in 1997. The transition to a 'seaplane-only' fleet of aircraft was completed in January of 1999. TMA now operates 23 Twin Otters, three of them brand new DHC-6-400 type.
TMA operates its own Sea Plane Terminal at Male` International Airport with 9 exclusive Resort Lounges and a fleet of air-conditioned buses and baggage vehicles for intra-airport transfers. The doorstep delivery and pick up at the Resorts is done at floating platforms as customized Resort Airports. Trans Maldivian transports about 400,000 passengers per year.
