Istana's Change of Guards Ceremony Returns!

Back in 1959, the Istana was guarded by combat troops from the 1st Battalion, Singapore Infantry Regiment. Today, guards from the SAF Military Police (MP) Command perform this duty on a rotational basis and hand over their responsibilities on the first Sunday of each month in a Changing of Guards ceremony held outside the Istana.

The format of the ceremony is based on the British Changing of Guards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace, and the contingent comprises members of the SAF MP Silent Precision Drill Squad as well as the SAF Band.
