When we talk about Phil Collins' solo career I always remember, long time ago in 1988, that time when Peter Gabriel recorded a message for Phil which was made for the “This Is Your Life” British TV show:

“I’m very proud of you Phil. I’ve been very pleased to see your meteoric success, and how well you’ve done in….everything. Production, singing, writing, acting…well….I can think a lot of words of how I feel, but….jealous off course is one of them (everybody laughed on that one). Anyway…I’m very pleased and I wish you a great evening tonight and lots of love. Bye”.

I must confess that the 1st two solo albums by Phil Collins are the ones I like the most. So I will share now a complete gig from his first Tour as a solo artist. It is actually the early show from the last date of that Tour at the Warner Theatre in Washington DC U.S. on February 20th 1983.

Phil was sadly affected with laryngitis throughout the whole Tour and by the end of it he was getting better although he was still with troubles reaching the highest notes. Nevertheless Phil and his amazing band of musicians pulled off this fantastic performance I’m sharing now. Like I just said before this is the first of those two gigs performed by the band that night at the Warner Theatre.

Performed on stage by Phil Collins, Chester Thompson, Daryl Stuermer, Mo Foster, Peter Robinson and “The Phoenix Horns” (Don Myrick, Rhamlee Michael Davis, Michael Harris and Louis Satterfield). Enjoy!!!
