A Review & Demo of some tones from the 2010 Gibson Explorer.
I demonstrate clean, mid gain, and high gain tones and give my thoughts on whether or not you should buy one.

The Explorer is a bit of a weird guitar. It's HH pickup layout is similar to the Gibson Les Paul and SG, but the large pointy guitar shape makes the guitar look and feel like a totally different beast. The slim taper neck profile makes the guitar neck feel very similar to the Gibson SG. The 500T & 496R ceramic pickups transmit AMAZING clarity throughout all levels of gain. This guitar is definitely capable of the heaviest of metal tones thanks to these pickups. However, the guitar is capable of being tamed down a bit and being used for basically anything you can come up with. Clean, low and mid gain tones still sound great with this guitar.
