OConnor, a Vitec Group Brand, and the leading manufacturer of the world's premiere fluid head and support technology for cinematography introduces both the new 1030D and 1030Ds Ultimate fluid heads.
Designed to handle lightweight, large sensor digital cinema packages like the RED Epic, Scarlet, Sony F3, and the Canon C300, the new 1030D and Ds offer a sporty industrial design and a wealth of features that have made OConnor's larger fluid heads the favourite among cinematographers worldwide.
Perhaps the most exciting new feature is the addition of an ergonomic crank-style counterbalance control. Like on the larger fluid heads in the OConnor family, a fold out crank lever allows easy, stepless adjustment of the counterbalance to simply and intuitively achieve precise balance of the payload.
The patented OConnor Sinusoidal Counterbalance system provides true, accurate balance at any position in the tilt range. And given the current trend in the industry towards lighter camera systems, users will appreciate the ability to counterbalance down to zero pounds. With the 1030D and Ds you can successfully balance even the smallest of payloads.
Both the pan and tilt feature OConnor's ultra-smooth, stepless fluid drag system, specifically enhanced to provide ultimate control and stability for digital cinematography. And as one would expect from an OConnor engineered fluid head, the controls are continuously adjustable.
The new action brakes are conveniently located on the left-hand side of the fluid head and can be unlocked with a single-handed squeeze action, another feature borrowed from the larger fluid heads to ensure operation is intuitive and familiar.
OConnor's two new ultimate fluid heads differ in payload capacity and tilt range. The 1030D offers support for payloads of up to 30lbs with a tilt range of 90 degrees. The 1030Ds offers support for higher payloads of up to 41lbs and a tilt range of 60 degrees.
Both are fitted with a 100mm base, which can be interchanged with either a 150mm base or Mitchell mount, if required. Both feature provisions for mounting a front box and attaching an eye-piece leveler or other accessories at the rear. The 1030D and Ds are ideally matched with OConnor's new 30L tripod to create a complete support package for lightweight digital cinematography.
