Where normal people see a tragedy of biblical proportions, Veronica Almeida saw an oasis. Now a parathlete, she was once a physical education professional, a "normal" person like anyone else, until discovering she carried a rare, progressive, degenerative and fatal disease - the Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. With a one-year life expectancy in 2007, she found a way to win over her old and new limitations through sport. Today she is an "abnormal" and outstanding person, a true winner (surpassing her life expectancy by four years), a champion in swimming and in life.
