Should Tall Guys Squat? We get asked this question a lot because we are both well over 6 feet tall. The simple answer is that yes, everyone should squat, it doesn't matter your height, weight, or background. When we talk about tall guys squatting we are usually specifically talking about longer leg individuals. First off the simple fact is that with longer femurs (legs) your hips will have to travel back farther to keep a stable base of support. This will usually put the torso in a more bent position and challenge the "upright squat" position. Most taller guys will have to hinge more in their squat and that's okay. What it really comes down to is no matter how tall you are, you should squat to the depth that your mobility allows. A lot of taller people have limited hip mobility for whatever reason BUT this can change with stretching and tissue work so you should always shoot to squat deeper and deeper.
