This video features kirtan-style chanting of the devotional song "They Have Heard Thy Name" using a blend of traditional kirtan instruments and other instruments not traditionally used in kirtan. "They Have Heard Thy Name" is an old Bengali chant translated into this form by Paramahansa Yogananda and printed in the book "Cosmic Chants" published by Self-Realization Fellowship. "Cosmic Chants" contains instructions on the art of devotional chanting as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda for experiencing healing of body, mind, and soul, and perception of God's presence within as peace, joy, and bliss.

The instruments depicted in this video are harmonium (traditional reed instrument used in Indian kirtan-style chanting), congas (traditional Cuban drums), tablas (traditional drums used for Indian kirtan-style chanting), doumbek (traditional Middle Eastern hand drum), and keyboard (electric synthesized keyboard made by Nord).

This video was recorded with a spirit of wanting to share the unique devotional and musical qualities of this chant with anyone who may take joy in listening. We hope viewers and listeners will feel the happiness and inspiration that we felt together while recording the music. Whether you connect to the music primarily through the lyrics, melody, harmony, or rhythms, may the doorway of your choice lead to an underlying vibration ineffable peace and soul-upliftment.
