How To Repair A Mercury Controller Shifter on a Boat/ bass boat restoration

Repair of a Mercury controller shifter on a boat.  I'm continuing with the restoration of this old Ranger 330-V bass boat.  I noticed while on the lake the other day that my shifter wasn't working as smoothly as I wanted it to.  I'm on a budget.  I'll show you how I repaired the shifter with a spring kit I bought.
