Muppets creator Jim Henson's Hampstead home given blue plaque. He lived there from 1979 and English Heritage unveiled the plaque ahead of what would have been the puppeteer's 85th birthday.

London’s famous blue plaques link the people of the past with the buildings of the present. Now run by English Heritage, the London blue plaques scheme was started in 1866 and is thought to be the oldest of its kind in the world.

James Maury Henson (1936 - 1990) was an American puppeteer, animator, cartoonist, actor, inventor, composer, filmmaker and screenwriter, who achieved worldwide notice as the creator of The Muppets characters and Fraggle Rock; and as the director of The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
