Cthulhu is one of H.P. Lovecraft's most iconic creations which has captivated the imaginations of readers and inspired countless adaptations across various media for almost a century now. It was first Introduced in Lovecraft’s 1928 short story "The Call of Cthulhu," Here, this cosmic entity is central to the Cthulhu Mythos, which has slowly morphe into a universe populated by ancient, powerful eldritch beings. Cthulhu is depicted as a massive entity, combining elements of an octopus, a dragon, and a human. His sheer size is one of its most daunting characteristics, standing miles tall, like a mountain, as noted by Wilcox in the original work Call of Cthulhu. He has terrifying eyes but no nose or ears. Lovecraft describes its face as a "mass of feelers," indicating numerous tentacles and tendrils that surround its mouth. The presence of these tentacles where they shouldn’t be adds to his alien and terrifying appearance, which suggests a form of unique sensory perception or perhaps an eldritch adaptation. . The limbs of Cthulhu are also notable, with prodigious claws on both its hind and fore feet. These limbs combine human-like characteristics with monstrous adaptations. Cthulhu is depicted as a more protoplasmic, shapeshifting entity with many tentacles and a single eye. Brian Lumley's Titus Crow series suggests that the creature encountered by Johansen was one of Cthulhu's Star-Spawn, implying that the true Cthulhu is even more formidable. In "At the Mountains of Madness," the artwork of the Antarctic Elder Things depicts that the Star-Spawn of Cthulhu, and presumably Cthulhu himself, are composed of an otherworldly matter that enables them to transform and reintegrate.
