Dastgah of Shour Khatereh Parvaneh This recording ”Dastgah of Shour Khatereh Parvaneh” is in the public domain in Iran because in accordance with Iran’s Law for the Protection of Author, Composers and Artists Rights (1970) copyright expires 30 from the date of publication or public presentation (Article 16). “Dastgah of Mahour” was recorded by the Iranian government (Radio Iran) in the 1960s on behalf of the Iranian Government’s Fine Arts Organization (the legal person owning the rights). Furthermore, because Iran is not part of any international copyright treaty, works published in Iran are public domain in the United States and many other nations. According to Circular 38a of the U.S. Copyright Office, Iran has no official copyright relations whatsoever with the United States. As a result “Dastgah of Mahour”, which was recorded in Iran, is thus not copyrighted in the United States, regardless of the local copyright laws of Iran.
