In this video, we have concluded that at least 60 thousand rupees are involved for the production of a good crop of what on medium to fertile personal soil under 50% availability of canal water. Wheat cultivationon rented land of medium quality has no more been remained profitable under
prevailing prices of inputs, lawlessness and socio economic conditions of most of the farmers. Expenses of Rs 10 thousand per acre land leveling, preparation plus drill planting, Rs 5 thousand for seed, Rs 35 thousand for fertilizers, Rs. 7 thousand for irrigation, Rs 6 thousand for plant protection charges, rented combined harvester charges have also been included for the production of 50-55 maunds per acre. Wheat produce may be sold @ Rs. 3 thousand per maund plus straw of Rs. 15 thousand. A total income of Rs. 165 thousand and net income of 104 thousand is expected under favourable climatic and socio economic conditions.
In this video we have analyzed the cost of wheat production in the canal irrigated areas. Laser leveling, land preparation and drill sowing cost of Rs.10 thousand, 14-16 thousand for fertilizer, 3 thousand for seed and same for irrigation, 5000 for pesticides of all kinds, 12 thousand of harvesting, threshing and transportation and 20 thousand for land rent has also been considered. No doubt, national average is below 32 maunds but if market and weather condition favor throughout the life span, farmers may succeed to produce 55 maunds of wheat grain/acre or even more. A net income of 30 thousand is expected in case of rented land.
No doubt, present government is well-wisher of decrypted community of farmers and has not only subsidized the price of wheat fertilizers and pesticides but has also done very well with the sugarcane growers. Not only sugarcane price was maintained but sugar mills were also directed to pay the farmers well in time. It is hoped that government will manage marketing system and wheat procurement at least at Rs.2000 per maund after harvesting of wheat this year.
