WHO WE ARE
Heartland Health & Wellness Fund is 39,000 members strong, comprised of plan participants, spouses and dependents in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Michigan represented by the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). As a regional health plan, we reduce per participant administrative costs, making the Fund competitive with private insurers while offering quality health benefits and eligibility information to its plan participants and their families.
EFFECTIVE WELLNESS PROMOTION
The Fund supports the health of its participants through its Wellness Program. By promoting bargained incentive plans, the Fund encourages participants to have annual wellness exams thereby reducing medical costs over time. With a dedicated wellness team on the ground, Heartland Health & Wellness Fund is a proven leader.
HOW WE OPERATE
Heartland Health & Wellness Fund is governed by a board of trustees made up of UFCW leaders representing members utilizing the Fund plan and employer executives representing the companies whose members receive health insurance from the Fund. We utilize a full accounting department for financial reporting, internal and employer auditing and a communication team to keep participants informed.
EXPERIENCED STAFF TEAM
The Fund employs more than 30 well-trained and experienced staff members to provide health benefit solutions. The staff team serves its membership by answering concerns regarding claims, eligibility, enrollment, sick pay, pension, appeals, wellness resources and general benefits information. Staff team members are committed to providing efficient, responsive, accurate and friendly service to serve all of its constituencies including plan participants and their dependents, local unions, employers and service providers.
