This is part 1 of 2 of a tour of the Viking Longship Kara conducted between June 26 and July 2, 2016. We were very impressed by everything about this ship and highly recommend Viking Cruises river cruising. We were on a Rhine Getaway Cruise. This part covers most of the ship. Part 2 will cover the remainder. For anyone interested, this ship and its sisters were all constructed somewhere in Germany. I could tell from everything I saw that the ship was well manufactured and Viking was maintaining it well in addition. It totally looked exactly what you would expect a quality German product to look like. Would be very interested in learning what was the price tag of this ship and its sisters? Wonder how long Viking intends to use them before believing them to be outdated? Hopefully, they were engineered so as to be upgradeable. FYI, things in Europe seem to be well-made but expensive. For example, several years ago, the Mercedes/Setra tour buses used by Viking in Europe in excursions for river cruises were some 350,000 euros each.
