From the moment “America’s first” breed landed on US soil in 1783, it changed the cattle industry forever. With a unique combination of fertility, efficiency and carcass quality, Shorthorns have always been the popular choice for raising high-quality beef. Through it all, Shorthorns have been known for maternal excellence. Simply put, the greatness of the Shorthorn cow has been the foundation of the breed’s success. This year, the American Shorthorn Association celebrates a milestone achievement, it’s 150th anniversary.
