CapitaLand Mall Trust built Sembawang Shopping Center on a freehold piece of land. There are four retail stories in it (including one Basement). 134,534.99 square feet (12,498.710 m2) of its 197,676 square feet (18,364.7 m2) total floor area are used for commercial activities. Three further Basements are utilised as parking spaces.
The mall was renovated in 2007 and reopened on December 1st, 2008. DCA Architects is the architectural company responsible for the mall's makeover. In an effort to diversify the holdings of CapitaLand Mall Trust, the Center was sold to a partnership between Lian Beng Group and Apricot Capital (Lian Beng-Apricot Sembawang) in April 2018, with Colliers International acting as the estate agent.
