What are gobar gas and landfill gas?

From cow dung, the biogas known as gobar is produced. The term first appeared in India, where biogas is traditionally produced from cow manure from dairy farms; the Hindi word "gobar" means "cow dung."

Gobar gas is created as a result of anaerobic digestion. Bacteria break down organic matter to create gas and organic soil products in a sealed, oxygen-free environment (liquid or solid fertiliser).

Gobar gas is a sustainable alternative to natural gas and other fossil fuels. While helping to lower greenhouse gas emissions in rural areas, it can increase the access of off-grid households to clean energy sources. Its popularity has been increasing as more governments search for fossil fuel substitutes, and not just in developing countries where it provides communities with access to cheap energy for heating and cooking.

Landfill gas (LFG) is a natural byproduct of the decomposition of organic material in landfills. LFG is composed of roughly 50 percent methane (the primary component of natural gas), 50 percent carbon dioxide (CO2) and a small amount of non-methane organic compounds. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas 28 to 36 times more effective than CO2 at trapping heat in the atmosphere over a 100-year period, per the latest

What are dung gas's benefits?
Due to the advancements in science and technology, it is anticipated that gobar gas will rank among the sources of greatest fuel production in the future.

Giving community access to a safer, cleaner, and more environmentally friendly energy source will enhance their quality of life, make their community much more long-term sustainable, and preserve the forests.

This 'dung gas' is going through a revolution. For instance, it has already quietly contributed to the economic development of Nepal and numerous other underdeveloped Asian and African nations. Millions of these plants can be found in urban and residential areas throughout China.

What is the price of gobar gas?
Depending on how they are used, gobar gas plants are priced differently. The price of plants used in agriculture can range from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000.

If the plant is meant for domestic use, the price per piece drops to between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 40,000. Price per unit varies between Rs. 1,35,000 and Rs. 7,50,000, or even more if the plant is to be used in industry.
