New WINDOW #dax functions which are made of OFFSET, INDEX, and WINDOW functions. These new functions are creating a lot of news and getting a lot of love. These #dax functions are very powerful and super useful and will make life easy, somewhat.
In this video, we will use the WINDOW function to get the running total. Although running total in #powerbi is not new, having a running total on a text column was surely challenging in the past, and require changes in the model.
Previously, if we want to have a running total on a text column, we needed to add a helper column with a data type as a number and then use that to get a running total.
The question is, why that is wrong or how is it different now? This is what this #video is going to talk about. How easy it is to get a running total for a text column, similar to getting a running total on a date or a number column.
