Today I bring the solution when a blue screen appears with the message "Page fault in nonpaged area".
In some cases it is accompanied with “What failed vgc.sys” error among others, most of the cases do not provide any clue as to why the error is occurring.
There are many reasons why this error can occur. For example, when we have accidentally or intentionally canceled the installation of Windows updates.
If you have recently installed new hardware (such as an SSD or new RAM modules), you should unplug these devices and check if the error persists.
Additionally, recently installed programs may be the reason for the problem.
At the end of the video I will explain the cause and solution when the error "vgc.sys" or "vgk.sys" appears in addition to the previous error
Check your system for malware, uninstall all recently installed applications, temporarily disable your anti-virus program
In the event that it stays on a blue screen and you cannot enter the operating system, you must do so by entering "safe mode" for this on my channel there is a tutorial where I explain how to do it. In the description of the video I leave the link for ease.
I will use the tool provided by the system by typing in search for “Windows Memory Diagnostics” and pressing ENTER.
Select the “Restart Now and check for problems” option.
Depending on your computer configuration and installed hardware, the check usually takes around an hour, so please be patient.
Another solution could be to disable "automatic paging file management" for all drives.
Write “Advanced System Configuration” in the search box and select the option “Settings”, “Advanced options”, in virtual memory click on “change”. Remove the flag here and flag “no paging file” and click “set”, then “yes”. OK again on OK, finally on OK and restart.
We can also test using the Windows console
I will enter by typing in search command prompt, press click, then right click and run as administrator. Click on yes.
When the new window opens, type the following command “sfc /scannow” and press ENTER.
Wait for Windows to complete the verification. It takes a bit of time, when you're done restart your computer and check if it's fixed.
If the failure continues, perform the next step to try to fix hard drive errors.
Enter search and type command prompt, press click, then right click and run as administrator. Press itself.
When the new window opens, type the following command “chkdsk /f /r” and hit ENTER and restart your computer.
If you have “VALORANT” game installed on your computer and get “What failed vgc.sys” error, the system will crash and reboot suddenly.
Vgk.sys is a “VANGUARD” “KERNEL” mode driver that causes blue screen error in Windows 10 and 11 due to anti-cheat solution.
The failure indicates that the system cannot get or recognize this file. As a result, a system crash occurs that can get stuck in the boot loop.
For this you must uninstall the game "VALORANT" and then delete the remaining residues of "vgc.sys" or "vgk.sys"
To do so, type in search for “command prompt”, right click and click on “run as administrator”. Click on yes.
Write the command “sc delete vgc” and press ENTER, since I have never installed said game, it appears as “service specified does not exist”, since you have it installed, it will appear that it has been successfully deleted.
If the failure is vgk.sys type “sc delete vgk” and press ENTER.
