I love seeing a black woman speak. But I don’t like when arguments aren’t well thought out. The purpose of this is to touch on some crucial points she left out based on the black experience and give an understanding as to WHY some black people gatekeep and to help other people understand how they can be triggering trauma when they have the best intentions. I want to educate because the comment section in her video was wild.

I normally don’t make videos like this. But I felt like I had to. You can watch her video first and then refer to mine for context.

She talked about the reasons black people shouldn’t use AAVE and shouldn’t gatekeepe but failed to discuss why black people don’t respond well when other people use AAVE. The whole black experience was being brushed over and low key she was being disrespectful to our experiences and creating more people who are going to do more harm than good for those of us who have not gotten over our trauma.

I hope to help those of us who are still struggling to see that we can’t control the world and that everyone who speaks like us isn’t mocking us. And to help those who are interested in our lingo to know that it’s okay to use but to be mindful of the exact person you’re talking to.
