- All versions have a single display mode.
- Xbox Series versions run at 60fps, while Xbox One versions stay at 30fps.
- Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X add visual enhancements in various settings such as lighting, vegetation animation, ambient occlusion, draw distance or some post-processing effects.
- Xbox Series S does not include dynamic shadows generated by light sources such as the lantern and has lower resolution textures over XSX.
- The Xbox One S/X versions, despite the cutbacks, maintain an outstanding visual level.
- Dead Island 2 does not use Ray-Tracing of any kind. However, due to the absence of real-time day/night cycles, it has been possible to achieve high-level backeted global illumination (especially indoors).
- Reflections, on the other hand, are not convincing in any version. Some use low-resolution cubemaps that tarnish the visual finish.
- Loading times on Xbox Series S/X are 10 times faster.
- Some slight framerate drops on Xbox One. Especially in the larger areas.
- Dead Island 2 is one of the best optimized games I've seen on UE4. A solid and satisfying experience on any of the 4 platforms.
