Enjoying my solitude in the wilderness at Rock Creek in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Rock Creek, a stream flowing from the Eastern Sierra Nevada to the Owens River in Mono County, California, drains from the Sierra Crest near Bear Creek Spire and flows through the John Muir Wilderness of the Sierra and Inyo National Forests. Additional creek drainage comes from Mount Abbot, Mount Mills, Ruby Peak, and Mount Starr, which combine with flow from Little Lakes Valley to form Rock Creek Lake. From there, the creek flows northeast to Tom's Place along U.S. Route 395, turning southeast towards the Owens River and flowing parallel to it as 'Lower Rock Creek' before joining the river near the Owens River Gorge. Upstream from Tom's Place, Rock Creek is 15.9 miles long, while Lower Rock Creek flows for an additional 14.1 miles.
