Hamsadhwani Audition | Anjana Jayaprakash | Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum | Akhil Sathyan

An email sent by my Casting Director Gayathri Smitha in one sleepy midnight of late 2019 replaced every single Hamsadhwani options I had and we found the perfect Hamsa for Pachu.  It was this self audition clip of Anjana Jayaprakash and she was on board in my head the very next day !

She joined the shoot only in 2022 end since the film had to survive three years, six schedules and lot of hurdles including the pandemic. All these uncertain years, this audition clip helped me to get in to the world of Hamsadhwani and her deepest emotions. Yes, it's my favourite written scene from the film as well.

Cut to June 2023, my Instagram and Facebook are flooded with posts, write ups, fan-made reels for Hamsadhwani. I see a huge 'Hamsa' fan base too and Anjana totally deserves it.

I'm happy for Hamsadhwani, I'm happy for Anjana and I'm happy for the July 2019 version of myself who had to wear the running shoes and go for a run at night, right after writing this scene. I felt so heavy for Hamsadhwani's loss and also felt some relief that she shared it to Pachu on their very second day.

PS : The track I used in this clip is the soulful instrumental version of the song 'Baale' by Sudip Paalanad. The original score for this particular scene is a quick guitar note played by my very own Justin Prabhakaran. He played the score right in front of my eyes immediately after seeing this scene. Justin was playing guitar after a long time and Hamsadhwani was the reason for it :)
