The King Vulture is the most brilliantly colored buzzard in the New World, with varying hues ranging from blue and purple to red or orange on its head. The wingspan can reach six feet and the beak is more curved than in other species of vultures. Males and females look the same. Its most powerful features, with the aim of feeding on the most resistant animal carcasses, gave it its name: its larger size, bright color and adapted features. Other birds treat the king vulture like the king, for example, when he flies, other birds stop feeding and let him eat.
