On 09-08-2022 This Piper Sport single-engine plane crashed at the Santa Monica Airport in California, leaving a flight instructor and student dead.

The plane crashed in the infield and was overrun with flames, according to the news release. Aircraft Rescue Firefighters arrived in under two minutes and put the flames out. The Piper Sport two-seat aircraft was operated by a local flight school.
The plane took off for an introductory flight lesson along the coast of Malibu at 3:30 p.m., officials told KABC. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board confirmed the victims were an instructor and a student, news outlets reported. Their names have not been released to the public.
The CSA SportCruiser is a two-seat, single engine, tricycle undercarriage, fixed-wing aircraft that was introduced in 2006 by Czech Aircraft Works (CZAW), now named Czech Sport Aircraft. In January 2010, the SportCruiser was added to the Piper Aircraft line as the PiperSport under a licensing agreement with Czech Sport Aircraft. This arrangement was terminated one year later in January 2011.
