Ronnie Whelan – Liverpool Football Club 1979–1994

Ronnie Whelan is a Liverpool legend who scored some vital goals in a red shirt and captained the team.
When Whelan started his career, he was set to become one of the game's greats. The promising Irishman was voted the best young player of the year in his first full season (1981-82) and scored two goals in the League cup final against Tottenham.
Whelan moved into a central midfield role when John Barnes arrived and prospered alongside him with greater responsibility, increased when he was made captain.
