Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System
Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System ATAGS is a towed 155 mm x 52 Cal howitzer that is being developed for the Indian Army by DRDO in collaboration with Bharat Forge Limited & Tata Power Strategic Engineering Division.It has it`s own mobility, features digital fire-control system with direct fire option which also include TI for gunner.Full- automated ammunition loading which gives rate of fire 10 rounds in 2.5 mins, weight under 18000 kg, has a 25 liter chamber instead of a 23 liter chamber commonly found in other 155mm x 52 cal howitzers. ATAGS broke the world record for 155 mm gun by firing the round to a distance of 48 kilometers. Defence Acquisition Council approved the procurement of 150 ATAGS with an estimated cost of $470 million.
