Accurate wind pressure coefficients in thermal modeling software (building performance modeling) are critical to evaluating several key design outputs on buildings. The greatest impact of inaccurate wind pressure coefficients will be within the calculation of airflow through openings. Thus, ventilation, fresh air rates, cooling, and overheating assessments can all be adversely affected. Most standard energy/thermal software has an oversimplified treatment of wind pressure, which is also poorly understood and applied by software users.
