A history video for kids and families looking at the history of celebrating Christmas through the ages! A Midwinter Festival, A Puritan Christmas, a Regency Christmas, a Victorian Christmas, A 1930's Christmas, a 1970's and the millennium...

Ever wondered where the Christmas game of charades come from? And when did it became popular to decorate a tree in your house? Who invented the tradition of carol singing? And what’s that song, the twelve days of Christmas, really all about? Why did people once eat oysters on Christmas day? And why on earth was Christmas once banned?!

This Christmas, Ian and I have teamed up with London’s Museum of the Home as well as TV script writer and former Creative Producer for Disney, Beth Lamont, for a very magical tour through Christmases past! AND my fabulous friend (and YouTube history royalty!) Historian, Dr Kat is teaching me the history!! This episode also sees the return of a whole host of favourite characters from past episodes, including the popular young historian and actor Arabella Duffy, Martin Jakeman, founder and artistic director of Historical Huzzahs, Pete Sayer, costumed interpreter at The Golden Hinde and actor Abigail Halley, founder of Bespoken Theatre.

We really did have the BEST time producing this festive special for you all, I hope you have as much fun watching our adventure through Christmases past as we had making it! And if you haven't been to the Museum of the Home yet, I hope this gets your Christmas curiosity tingling too! Make sure to pay a visit this Christmas if you can, it truly is magical AND free to enter all year round!
