R1Liz - 2024 BWM F800GS - First Ride - Dodging the rain

Todays was one of life's beautiful 'see what happens' days. I wanted to ride my RR around but the universe said no. So I went to meet my friend Sarah at my local BMW shop with my little back up motorcycle (poor Svarty has had to work twice this week), and ended up taking a demo bike out for an hour. The weather was bad enough that despite being a busy day for BMW, most of the bikes were available so we could pick from most of the range. I chose the new F800GS because it was sat there looking all cute, Sarah chose the R1200RS because she liked the way that it was staring at her.
We had a lovely ride and didn't get too wet. Actually I think the F800GS is kind of perfect for me, on paper. It's small and light but with a punchy enough engine to be enjoyable, and speedy enough for me to keep up with whatever I'm in the mood for - without causing too much chaos. It's a little more road focused, which, realistically is a good thing for me - since I love the idea of an off-road capable bike but am deeply afraid of going off-road. It looks the part, not spectacular but gritty enough to be impressive when parked on a bit of mud with some bags slung on it. Presumably.
