The moon jellyfish has an almost worldwide distribution in temperate and tropical coastal waters. The diameter of the bell can be up to 40 cm however is 10-15 cm in common. The bell is transparent. In the center of the bell are four reproductive glands that look like four crescent moons, which determine the name of the jelly. The stomach consists of four pockets bordering the reproductive glands, and digestive canals extending radially from it. Under the umbrella, there is a mouth opening, surrounded by four large oral lobes, reminiscent of donkey ears in shape, for which Aurelia received its second name “eared”. The tentacles harbor stinging cells that are used to paralyze small planktonic animals, which the jellyfish feeds on. In nature, jelly lives for 6–8 months, and in aquariums up to one year. In nature, jellyfish are prey to fish, predatory crustaceans, and sea turtles.
