Harm Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (Harm OCD) is a subset of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) characterized by intrusive thoughts, images, or urges involving harming oneself or others. Unlike other forms of OCD, where obsessions might revolve around contamination or a need for symmetry, Harm OCD specifically focuses on the fear of causing physical harm. This can manifest as fears of stabbing a loved one, hitting a pedestrian while driving, or other violent actions. Importantly, these thoughts are ego-dystonic, meaning they are inconsistent with the individual's values and desires, causing significant distress.
