Navigine's demo of WIFI-RTT

The video demonstrates the possibility of using Wi-Fi Round Trip Time (RTT) technology in Navigine positioning engine to achieve submeter accuracy of indoor localization.

To demonstrate the opportunities of Wi-Fi RTT we created testbed with 4 Google Wi-Fi access points which provide RTT measurements and Android Google Pixel 3a smartphone supporting Wi-Fi RTT. Testing was performed in restricted area of Navigine office with 9x11m size. The positioning engine is a particle filter combining Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (PDR), based on inertial sensors readings, and Wi-Fi RTT readings for correction.

Two test cases are considered in this video: a semi-static test, where user walks slowly through a set of checkpoints and stands for a few second at each of them, and dynamic test, where user walks with average speed around the office. Semi-static test demonstrates a submeter accuracy in checkpoints 95% of time and around 30 cm accuracy 50% of the time. Meanwhile, dynamic test shows that delay in position estimation does not exceed one second. Latter result is achieved by complementing Wi-Fi RTT measurements with PDR via particle filter.
