Replacing the front springs of
Replacing the front springs of Audi A6 C5 and similar multi-link suspension systems in Audi A4 / VW Passat B5 / Skoda Superb.
In this video, I'll demonstrate how to replace the front springs or shock absorbers on VAG vehicles such as Audi A6, A4, Passat B5, and Skoda Superb. Since all these cars share the same front multi-link suspension.
Instructions for replacing the springs:
1. Remove the wheel.
2. Secure the car on a reliable support.
3. Unscrew the bolt of the swivel hub that holds the upper levers.
4. Take out the upper levers from the swivel hub.
5. Unscrew the shock absorber bolt from the lower lever.
6. Unscrew the 3 bolts of the upper bracket from under the hood space.
7. Remove the strut.
8. Compress the spring.
9. Unscrew the two nuts and remove the upper bracket.
10. Unscrew the shock absorber nut, holding it with a hex key to prevent it from turning.
11. Disassemble the strut (nut, support, washer, upper spring plate, bumper with a cover, spring, lower spring plate).
12. Replace the spring or shock absorber.
13. Compress the new spring or the old one and assemble everything in the reverse order.
