Unveiled just at the Goodwood festival of speed, the DLS Turbo Project is a glorious nod to Porsche’s brutal Group 5 racers of the late 1970s. It came about as customers had asked for some sort of mash-up between the Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS) unveiled in 2019 and the Turbo Study from 2022, both of which stormed up the Festival Hill.
Although the car started out life as a Type 964 air-cooled 911, the car you see here is very far removed from a ‘regular’ 964. Aside from the exquisite carbon-fibre exterior and the jaw-dropping interior, the DLS Turbo Project is powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo, air-cooled flat-six featuring electric wastegates, fed by air-to-water intercoolers. The motor revs to over 9,000rpm and produces upwards of 700PS.
