The remote city of Suifenhe in China’s northeastern province of Heilongjiang sits and at the border with Russia, is a new front in the battle against the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Border control measures have been tightened in the city and a new temporary hospital is being built as a lockdown goes into effect. The measures are an attempt to curb a rise in imported Covid-19 cases, which stands in contrast to a drop in local infections drop and gradual opening up seen across the rest of the country.
