Though it has more delicate details, the EM90 resembles its Zeekr cousin in terms of size. The iconic "Thor's hammer" headlights from Volvo are positioned high and wide, dominating a sizable flat face that is embellished with elaborate LEDs and an illuminated Volvo logo. The EM90 is equipped with 19- or 20-inch wheels and has vertically oriented taillights and a full-width light bar with a lit-up Volvo script on the rear.
Expect a "comfortable living room on the move," as Volvo puts it, so don't expect nimble handling. In contrast to the Zeekr, which has two motors and 536 horsepower, the EM90 only has one electric motor at the back that produces 268 horsepower. As a result, the rear-wheel drive minivan will reportedly dawdle to 62 mph in 8.3 seconds as opposed to the Zeekr's 4.5-second time.
Although the 009 can be upgraded to a 140.0-kWh battery, the Volvo is equipped with a 116.0-kWh battery, which is also present in the Zeekr. On China's test cycle, Volvo claims a range of 459 miles, which is more than the Zeekr's 436 miles. According to Volvo, the EM90's battery can be used to power other vehicles and electronic accessories, and it can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes.
