Rick Levine's November 2023 Forecast: Finding Our Way

November begins as if it’s just more of October. Unrealistic dreams or inflated expectations muddle our ability to make rational decisions as the passionate Scorpio Sun opposes propitious Jupiter in pragmatic Taurus on November 2. But idealism trumps practicality when iridescent Venus opposes illusory Neptune on November 3. We might expect concrete answers when sobering Saturn ends its retrograde phase on November 4, but it will take all month for nearly stationary Saturn to build momentum and catch up to speed. Frustration can push us to the edge while trickster Mercury and warrior Mars oppose wildcard Uranus on the 4th and the 11th, respectively. We are weary from feeling like the solid ground beneath our feet is not stable enough to support us.

The good news is change is in the air. The potent Scorpio New Moon at 1:27 am PST on November 13 is like a blinking neon sign that says, “Don’t wait! Do something now!” Although acting on our convictions sounds like a good idea, impulsive behavior is unlikely to be rewarded since this New Moon is conjunct contentious Mars and opposes chaotic Uranus. Self-restraint should not be confused with inaction. Patience only pays off if we use our waiting time mindfully. Reflecting on our intentions and refining our plans enables us to move forward with confidence and integrity. Flexibility is key if we wish to make the most of the surprises which are bound to pop up during these unpredictable times.

The energy flows a bit smoother through the middle of the month if we can avoid letting our fears influence our words and deeds as the Sun and Mars travel together through evocative Scorpio. Thankfully, this powerhouse planetary duo unites in a conjunction on November 17 while jointly forming a free-flowing trine to imaginative Neptune, empowering us to dissipate excess anger or angst into higher forms of expression, such as compassionate acts, creative endeavors, and spiritual pursuits. The Sun and Mars form cooperative sextiles to sly Pluto on November 20-21, which could provide insightful resolutions to the chaos that exploded when Mars squared Pluto back on October 7-8. The cosmos offers the possibility of transformation, but we humans are responsible for making something meaningful happen.

We may experience lighter moments of optimism as the exodus of planets leaves the deep and dark waters of Scorpio to enter the boundless blue skies of adventurous Sagittarius. Messenger Mercury leads the pack on November 9, followed by the Sun on November 22, and Mars on November 24. Additionally, delightful Venus breathes easier once shedding the constraints of detail-driven Virgo for her home sign of diplomatic Libra on November 8. These planetary shifts change the landscape of our lives as the month unfolds. Cooperation and compromise are constructive avenues available to us if we can put our individual egos aside for the sake of justice and peace.

During the buildup to the Gemini Full Moon on November 27 at 1:16 am PST, the Sun, Moon, and Mars each square authoritative Saturn, enforcing a measure of constraint around the possibility of escalating an open conflict. However, the noisy Gemini Full Moon is the final turning point of the month, leading to progress on many levels. Nevertheless, we are not yet out of the woods. Since the outer planets are all still retrograde, stationing, or just moving very slowly, it still feels as if we’re spinning our wheels while the foundations of reality are not responding to the surface changes. Fortunately, retrograde season is coming to an end with Neptune, Chiron, and Jupiter each turning direct in December. By early next year, we will see the progress that is now still invisible. In the meantime, we might consider the words of Vietnamese peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh, “The practice of peace and reconciliation is one of the most vital and artistic of human actions.”
