This year's Christmas ornament project
This year's Christmas ornament project is a walnut and maple sphere with a snowflake pattern at the top and the bottom. The pattern runs through the volume of the sphere. I made the pattern by repeatedly cutting and gluing pieces of walnut and maple to make a snowflake. I then generated two segmented halves to this sphere which I hollowed out. Next, I glued the two halves together and turned the resulting cylinder into a sphere. I really like how the straight lines of this segmented snowflake wrapped themselves around the curve of the sphere and make a new pattern.
