Ukraine launched a surprise offensive on August 6, advancing into Russia’s Kursk region with the intent of forcing a redeployment of Russian troops from the Donetsk front. Despite initially catching Moscow off guard, the Ukrainian incursion has not achieved its strategic objective. Russian forces continue their relentless advance in the Donbas region, specifically towards Pokrovsk, a crucial logistical hub for Ukrainian defenses.
