Vertigo - Brandt Daroff - Specialized Physical Therapy

In this video we demonstrate the Brandt Daroff Maneuver for dizziness and positional vertigo.  The Brandt Daroff Maneuver can help reduce/eliminate dizziness/vertigo symptoms through two proposed mechanisms:  1) Habituation and 2) Mechanical Repositioning.  

Habituation of dizziness symptoms occurs through repeated exposure to provoking movements/positions.  Mechanical repositioning occurs when loose inner ear crystals are moved back into their proper position.  

At Specialized Physical Therapy we utilize the Brandt Daroff Maneuver to address residual symptoms  that may continue after more specific vertigo treatment.  We also recommend this maneuver as a home exercise program to habituate dizziness symptoms.
