Rohan Parakh brings his decision-making insights from a Consulting career, his love for social impact from J-PAL (Abdul Lateef Jameel Poverty Action Lab) and his competency in macroeconomics from his role at UNCDF (United Nations Capital Development Fund). An IIT Kanpur grad, Rohan went on to study a Master's in Public Administration at the Harvard Kennedy School. In this video, he talks about how MPA (Masters in Public Administration) differs from an MPP (Masters in Public Policy), the ROI of an MBA vs international mobility of an MPP/MPA, the approach to select grad schools in the US, UK and Singapore and the dual-degree option of an MPP/MBA. He further explains how he ruled out giving CAT, cancelled his MBA admit from MIT Sloan and Civil Services from his career options. His life is an excellent case study of unconventional choices and his advice for millennials, is a no-b.s approach beyond ' just finding your passion.'

You will be fascinated by how he looks at every turning point in his life, whether it was opting out of placements at IIT, applying for a Masters or switching careers from Public Policy to finally, Product Management as an economics problem of supply and demand. During his B.Tech-M.Tech Dual Degree in Civil Enginerring at IIT-Kanpur (2008-2011), he knew he just didn't want to follow the traditional career options, no matter how appealing they were. Mind you, but he didn't take impulsive risks, instead highly calculated ones.

He got involved in the social impact space during his IIT days where he managed operations as an Avanti Fellow and a Campus Ambassador for Teach For India. Through his short experiences as a Delegate for HPAIR (Harvard Project for Asian for Asian and International Relations) in Boston, he researched on education policies between the East and West.
As someone who didn't want to take an armchair role in Consulting, but work on the ground level,  his first job at Technoserve helped him to achieve just that when he worked on projects for USAID, IFC and the World Bank for India. Looking to combine his experience of consulting, knack for statistics and flair for international affairs, he decided to study Masters in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) at Harvard Kennedy School.
