Finland has officially become the 31st member of NATO, a strategic shift provoked by Moscow's war in Ukraine that doubles the US-led alliance's border with Russia. Finland, and neighbouring Sweden, are both abandoning decades of non alignment, although Sweden's accession remains blocked for now.
