Today I was honored to speak with Dr. Steve Mason, professor emeritus of Ancient Mediterranean Religions and Cultures at the University of Groningen.
We analyzed the Jewish historian Josephus' Testimonium Flavianum, starting with an introduction, touching on a few interpolation possibilities, and then going line by line through the Testimonium to understand what is and is not being said there, and how it fits into the larger context of the rest of Josephus' writings. Throughout our conversation, Dr. Mason provides valuable insights about what conclusions may be warranted and which are assumptions, providing valuable guidance for how to stay on track as students of history.
