After a welcoming ceremony at London's Heathrow airport, a motorcade took the crown prince to Windsor Castle on the outskirts of London where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are playing host to the Japanese visitor. He planned to spend Friday and Saturday at Windsor Castle before attending the opening ceremonies for the Japan 2001 festival in London on Sunday. Crown Princess Masako, pregnant with the royal couple's first child, was also invited to attend "Japan 2001" cultural events, but elected to stay at home. A dinner with Prince Charles and a trip to Oxford University, where Naruhito and Masako once studied, are also planned. The crown prince is scheduled to return to Japan on Friday.
