Plasco Building is a commercial building at the crossroads of Istanbul, Tehran, Iran. The first Plasco building was mentioned as the first skyscraper and modern building in the Middle East. This 17-storey building with a metal frame, which was opened in 1341, was one of the most important centers for the production and sale of clothing in Tehran. The building collapsed on fire on Thursday, December 21, 2016, after 54 years of construction, and 560 commercial units were destroyed. Plasco collapsed after burning for 3.5 hours while a large number of firefighters were still fighting the fire inside and outside the building. The first Plasco, with a height of 42 meters at the time of construction in 1341, was the tallest building in Tehran and was considered one of the first skyscrapers in Tehran next to the aluminum building. This building was a symbol of modern Tehran and modern architecture in the capital of Iran and was considered as a landmark symbol of the city.
ساختمان پلاسکو یک ساختمان تجاری در چهارراه استانبول تهران، ایران است. از اولین ساختمان پلاسکو به‌عنوان نخستین آسمان‌خراش و ساختمان مدرن خاورمیانه یاد می‌شد. این ساختمان ۱۷ طبقه با اسکلتِ فلزی که در سال ۱۳۴۱ گشایش یافته بود، یکی از مهم‌ترین کانون‌های تولید و فروش پوشاک در تهران بود. این ساختمان در روز پنج‌شنبه ۳۰ دی ۱۳۹۵ پس از ۵۴ سال از ساخت بر اثر آتش‌سوزی فرو ریخت و ۵۶۰ واحد تجاری در آن نابود شد. پلاسکو در هنگامی پس از ۳٫۵ ساعت سوختن، فروریخت که هنوز شمار بالایی آتش‌نشان در حال مهار آتش‌سوزی در بیرون و درون ساختمان بودند. پلاسکوی نخست، با ۴۲ متر بلندی در هنگام ساخت در سال ۱۳۴۱، بلندترین ساختمان تهران بود و در کنار ساختمان آلومینیوم از نخستین آسمان‌خراش‌های تهران شمرده می‌شد. این ساختمان نماد تهران نوین و معماری مدرن در پایتخت ایران و به عنوان یک نماد شاخص شهری به‌شمار می‌رفت.
